The Proto persona template is designed to help your team collaboratively build proto personas, during a workshop. This technique is a flexible way to align on user assumptions, before conducting the main user research. It’s based on the team’s existing observations, knowledge toward potential users.

Use this template to explore user’s goals, pain points, habits. During the session, each team member creates a rough persona individually. Then the group comes together to synthesize and shape 1-2 shared proto personas.

It’s ideal for the early stage of product discovery, or aligning cross-functional teams around a shared understanding of the user.
